‘Wicked Mafia Prince’ is the second installment in Annika Martin’s ‘A Dangerous Royals Romance’ series and while it features another Dragusha brother’s story it can’t be read as a standalone. However, in order to understand the story line and all the characters’ backgrounds I highly recommend reading the previous book in the series. Once again Annika Martin delivers an intriguing story filled with action, suspense and steam that I found more interesting and gripping than the first one.
“You’re not a terrible person, you’re just a man who feels deeply. You want to be loved. To be forgiven.”
In the previous installment we met Viktor, the tough and quiet Dragusha brother who grew up in a Russian orphanage after he tragically lost his parents. He was taken by Bratva at a young age and he was prepared to be an assassin. There he met Tanechka, the woman who never forget, the woman who still holds a place in his heart after everything that happened between them. Tanechka was an assassin like Viktor, his best friend and his lover until she betrayed Bratva and Viktor. Viktor became another man from the moment he was forced by some unpleasant circumstances to kill the only woman he’d ever loved. Finding out that Tanechka was innocent, that she never betrayed him destroyed Viktor completely. He feels guilty, regretting every day what happened years ago knowing that he should have believed the woman who was everything to him.
When Viktor comes upon a nun who will never show her face on a live feed on a human trafficking site he becomes convinced that he found Tanechka. He doesn’t know how she survived, but he knows the nun is her, he simply feels it in his heart.
“I know it’s her. I’ll always know moya Tanechka – my Tanechka.”
Like I mentioned above, the story was a little better than the first one…at least in my opinion. To be honest I wasn’t really at the edge of my seat reading Viktor’s story, not like I would have liked, but I enjoyed the action and the suspense aspects and of course the hunt for Kiro, the third Dragusha brother. Viktor was well portrayed here. His character is pretty well developed as the story unfolds and I have to say I liked his new side, caring and protective. My heart broke for him and for what happened with him and the woman who loved years ago. As for Tanechka’s character, well….I would have liked a better character development. Both main characters’ backgrounds were well done, but I felt our heroine’s portrayal was not done well enough.
I liked the connection between the two main characters, but the romantic aspect was barely there. Personally I would have preferred more romance than suspense. To be honest I didn’t feel too much love and passion between these two main characters.
Overall, “Wicked Mafia Prince” was a great addition to the series and while I didn’t fully enjoyed it, I’m looking forward to read the third and final installment, Kiro’s story.
“When I touch you, I want you. And I feel lost.”
“You’re never lost when I’m in the world.”
