No, must be read in order of series

The Hale family is obsessed with status, power, and control. No problem is too big their money can’t solve.

Royce Hale manipulated me into giving him everything. My virginity. My hand in marriage. My heart.

And as soon as he got what he wanted, he callously sold me off for a cool ten million.

In the boardroom and the twisted game his family plays, he says the only rule is to win at all costs.

Yesterday I learned a painful lesson not to trust the prince of Cape Hill. Today I’ll destroy his carefully laid plans and show him just how badly he’s already lost.

All the money in the world won’t be able to stop me.

Tracey’s Review

What a mind bending F’ed up book, but it an ‘OMG what the hell just happened’ way. The Obsession in book two in Nikki Sloane Filthy Rich American Series and picks right up from the cliffhanger that we say in book one, so with that being said, if you haven’t read The Initiation, then you need to, especially if you want to read one hell of a rollercoaster series.

The twist and turns that we experienced in this addition to the series, left me with series whiplash. I could never have seen what was going to happen in this story and the cliffhanger that we are left with was a WTF moment and if you saw that twist, then bravo!!

Just like in the first book, I connected to Marist character from the get go and when I started reading The Obsession that connection was there once again. She is such a strong character, one that is growing as she learns about the world she has been reluctantly introduced to. She has the skills to adapt to anything and she is slowly growing into her skin and becoming a woman to be reckoned with!

While we didn’t get to see much of Royce, when we did see him with Marist the chemistry between the two characters ignited and certainly left this reader a little hot under the collar. It will be interesting to see what Nikki Sloane does with this character.

Now, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about Macalister, Royce’s father. Ruthless and relentless, he is willing to do anything and everything to make sure he wins, no matter the cost. The object of his obsession is Marist. For me this character grew the most and you got to see how his roll could change the outcome in Marist and Royce’s relationship. I seriously can’t wait to see what happens.

Overall, this was a fantastic read. It is filled with drama, tension, chemistry and mystery. Book three is releasing in November and I can’t wait to see where Nikki intends to take us. This series is proving to be one of the best series I have read from Nikki and she is definitely highlighting my love for her work.
