The Baller: A Down and Dirty Football Novel by Vi Keeland (Maria)

➦I liked it, particularly the beginning of the book. The resistance the heroine put up was admirable and at one point i was laughing out loud through the scene. It was really a funny visual. At that point I remember thinking “I love this book.”

➦Half way through the book the third POV was introduced and I was a little confused. Really unnecessary, I thought. I didn’t know what I was supposed to feel for the other woman. She was presented as a gentle soul who was helping little girl in need. But I really wanted to dislike her… just a lot of mixed feelings.

➦By the very end it fell short for me, unfortunately. A lot of times you read about how there was “electricity” in the air between two people or a hint at how one person can feel the presence of their lover in the room. But in this book it wasn’t a hint, the author just kept repeating it and I didn’t know if I was supposed to take shit literally or not. At some point the heroine was able to “feel” her lover’s eyes on her from across a football stadium. I swear, they had some kind of special powers.
