Jack and I, we did everything backward. The day he lured me into his office-which was also the first day we met-he proposed. You'd think a guy who looked like him-a bit cold maybe, but still striking and very unattainable-would only ask the love of his life to marry him, right? You'd think he must be madly in love.

Nope. It was me he asked. A complete stranger who had never even heard of him. A stranger who had been dumped by her fiancé only weeks before. You'd think I'd laugh in his face, call him insane-and a few other names-then walk away as quickly as possible. Well…I did all those things except the walking away part.

It took him only minutes to talk me into a business deal…erm, I mean marriage, and only days for us to officially tie the knot. Happiest day of my life. Magical. Pop the champagne… Not. It was the worst day. Jack Hawthorne was nothing like what I'd imagined for myself.
I blamed him for my lapse in judgment. I blamed his eyes, the ocean blue eyes that looked straight into mine unapologetically, and that frown on his face I had no idea I would become so fascinated with in time.

It wasn't long after he said I was the biggest mistake of his life that things started to change. No, he still didn't talk much, but anyone can string a few words together. His actions spoke the loudest to me. And day after day my heart started to get a mind of its own.

One second he was no one. The next he became everything.
One second he was unattainable. The next he seemed to be completely mine.
One second I thought we were in love. The next it was still nothing but a lie.

After all, I was Rose and he was Jack. We were doomed from the very beginning with those names. Did you expect anything else?

Megan’s Review

“My husband was perfect. With all his arrogance and prickliness, Jack Hawthorne was perfect for me.
He wasn’t what I’d had in mind or even what I’d wanted for myself, but he was perfect and already mine.”

I am a huge Ella Maise fan and when I saw she was releasing a new book, I would’ve done anything to get my hands on a copy. Marriage for One was definitely a highly anticipated read for me this year and the wait was long and agonizing. When I finally got my chance to read it, I dropped everything and went into my reading cave and soaked in every captivating and beautifully written word. Marriage for One was so much more than I could’ve ever expected though, and my expectations were pretty high, so that just goes to show how truly magical this story really was. All lovers of slow burn romances will devour this story just like I did.

Jack, wow! What can I possibly say about Jack? He literally took my breath away and the more I read the more I fell even harder for the mysterious, yet fascinating Jack Hawthorne. While he did have a somewhat cold presents about him, deep down inside he was such a beautiful and sweet man whose heart is always in the right place, even though he goes about things in the wrong way. I’ll never forget how I felt the moment Jack smiled and how my heart started to beat rapidly for this man I had grown to love so much.

Rose is a struggling woman with dreams to one day open up her own coffee shop. When an unlikely opportunity presents itself, Rose is at a cross roads with what to do. Jack offers up a business opportunity to Rose which involves a marriage of convenience. Rose really was battling inside of what to do because the thought of marrying a complete stranger is just plain crazy.

What started out as a business proposal soon grew to something so much bigger than either of them could have possibly imagined. I loved their journey and while they were two completely different people from two completely different worlds, they just fit so perfectly well together. The build up and anticipation of them finally succumbing to their attraction towards each other was enough to have my heart literally beating out of my chest. It was breathtaking and I just could not get enough.

“Finally, finally his mouth cured into a smile. It had only taken us a bit more than a month. It was probably my own fault, but my God! It’d been a long wait, a pretty long wait that had been worth it because when he smiled…when the skin around his eyes gently crinkled, turning his expression into something completely different than what it was when he was frowning…I simply couldn’t stop staring. My heart soared as if I had just accomplished something big, and for me, it was big – so big that I couldn’t stop myself from beaming up at him.”

Marriage for One was just the perfect book. I was utterly captivated from the very beginning and could not put this one down. Ella crafted a story which was positively flawless with her exquisite and uber talented storytelling and the characters she created were nothing short of spectacular. Jack charmed his way into my heart and is there to stay. I could not recommend this story enough and if I could rate it more than 5 stars I absolutely would. All fans of slow burning romances will love this one; the buildup and anticipation was nothing short of magic. This story is definitely one click worthy and everyone deserves a piece of Jack Hawthorne. I have a feeling he will be melting hearts all over the world.
