“Love looks not with the eyes, but
with the mind,
And therefore is winged Cupid
__ William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
If there is one author who can write possibly the best alpha a$$hole heroes imaginable, it would have to be L. J. Shen. She has such a natural talent of bringing to life these alpha’s who are positively the world’s most arrogant jackasses and larger than life characters that I just can’t get enough of, and I am always left wanting more so much more. I am a huge fan of L. J. Shen and will read whatever she produces because I am always guaranteed to be utterly consumed from start to finish. Her story lines are always well thought out and intriguing, her characters always bring so much life to the story and her covers are always smoking hot. Dirty Headlines was one of my most anticipated reads of this year and boy did it not disappoint.
Judith “Jude” has not been having the best time of late, and attempts to fix her financial woes by stealing the very thick wallet from her hot as hell one night stand. According to Jude it was a safe bet, right? She was never going to see him again so therefore she’ll get away with the theft.
Ready to take the journalism world by storm, nothing could have prepared Jude for coming face to face with her new boss, Cèlian Laurent who also happens to be the one night stand she stole from. Not the best impression to make on the one person who has the potential to make or break your career.
“My heart was not lonely. It was desperate and beating and alive. It frightened and delighted me at the same time, knowing that I could, and I would, and I should fall in love – whether it was with my boss or otherwise.”
Making ground breaking headlines in the newsroom has never been full of so much banter, sexual tension and sizzling hot chemistry; it made for such a fun and thrilling ride. Cèlian and Jude may not always see eye-to-eye in the newsroom, but their true feelings and intense attraction towards each other was really showcased.
I adored the Chuck loving Jude; her strong and sassy attitude, her ability to stand up to Cèlian and hold her own against her outspoken, filter-less sexy boss. Her passion and determination truly was inspiring and I really admired her strength, not only to stand up for herself, but to also stand up for all those around her.
While I did at times get frustrated with the outspoken, egotistical Cèlian, I couldn’t help but fall in love with him and his dirty mouth. He not only had a sharp tongue with no problem expressing his opinions and letting everyone else know exactly what he thinks, he also had a sharp mind, which I found so incredibly sexy.
When Cèlian and Jude moved their feisty relationship out of the newsroom and into the bedroom, sparks really began to fly. It was so sizzling hot and was very apparent they were meant to be.
Dirty Headlines was such a fun, all-consuming office romance that I adored. L. J. Shen’s writing is always flawless, in depth and her ability to always portray the perfect and lovable alpha male and the women, who rein them in, is nothing short of remarkable. There is a reason why L. J. Shen is the top of the one click list for so many readers… because she is just that good and I highly recommend you check out her newest release.
Okay so here’s the thing, I loved this book. But holy crap did I want to bang my head on the wall while reading it, maybe punch a wall or two too. Why? Because this hot headed, egomaniac, self centered asshole named Celian Laurent stole me for the last day driving me crazy with frustration and yet underneath all of this he is so fricken lovable. I love a big time jerk!!!!!
And one of the biggest reason I love him, Jude Humphrey. She was witty, she was strong, and she stood up for herself against this man. She wasn’t scared to go head to head, toe to toe, chest to chest with this man. Oh hell no she went all in.
This story takes you on a ride along a journey at finding love, real deep soul crushing love. These two characters are perfect for each other, made for one another. Neither believe in love, they are either stuck in or leaving a meaningless relationship. There is no such thing as love to either of them but that of course was until they met each other. Definitely a book to pick up if you want a book that puts you on a mission to fall, cause you’ll fall hard for this couple.
