The First Taste is a standalone spin-off of the Slip of the Tongue. I didn’t read the first book because it just didn’t appeal to me. But I’m glad I took a chance on this one because it was oh-so-good!
This story is about Amelia Van Ecken and Andrew Beckwith. They’re complete opposites. She’s this classy businesswoman and he’s this tattooed, single dad with a daughter.
Andrew basically suggest sex within half an hour of meeting Amelia. Both have one thing in common—they aren’t looking for anything serious. One night together is what they agree to. Andrew and Amelia end up having a deeper connection than they anticipated. Now they have to figure out if what they have is worth letting go of their fears of getting hurt again.
Since the beginning they were nothing but honest and upfront with each other. About what they did and didn’t want. I absolutely loved the moments where they would open up about themselves and show their vulnerable side. Andrew is actually the first one to realize he wants something more with Amelia. Because she is so guarded, he is willing to fight for her.
“Somewhere along the way, she became worth it to me. The threat of pain that comes with keeping her in my life—it’s not enough to scare me away. In fact, it’s the threat of competition that stokes a fire in me. It makes me want to put up a fight.”
Andrew isn’t only a wonderful dad who would do anything for his daughter. He is also a sexy alpha male in bed!
“I want to undress you, stretch you out on my bed, fingers to toes. Your hair splayed on my pillow and I want to take you over and over until you can’t handle it another second.”
There’s a bunch of fun banter and steamy moments. The story flowed well for me and never dragged. I could not put this book down. It may or may not have something to do with the sexy, tattooed dad! *wink* Can you blame me, though!? Single dads are my weakness! But seriously, the way he is with his daughter.. *sigh* I recommend it to everyone!
