“There once was a boy and a girl . . .”
When I started this book, I could not put it down. I just love how Renée’s unique stories always end up touching my heart. And it’s a second chance romance!
The story starts with Emiline having a hard time with her writing. Her friend recommends a debut novel from J. Colby. From the very first page she knows that the story is about her old life. And she already knows the person who wrote it. The boy she hasn’t seen in twelve years.
Reliving what Emiline went through with Jase within the pages of his book brings old feelings back. Feelings she thought she kept buried.
I loved how we get to read the past and present of their lives. We get to see their love develop and grow over the years when they lived next to each other. From being best friends to lovers.
It might have been years, but their feelings run so strong and deep. There’s no doubt these two were always meant to be together.
“Jase had planted himself inside of my heart so deeply that when we parted he kept growing there. We weren’t together, but he was always there, like a part of my soul.”
Jase was a patient and compassionate man. He didn’t push Em, and gave her time to make her choice. I actually loved the reason why he wrote the book and how he chose to end it. It was all so sweet. JASE. WAS. SO. SWEET.
“I love you, Emiline. I loved you before I even knew what it meant.”
I wish we could’ve had more time between them in their present lives, though. I mean, I understand why he didn’t rush things, but I’m greedy, and I just wanted MORE. I still loved it nonetheless and wouldn’t change a thing.
Swear on This Life is a must read! You don’t want to miss out on an amazing second chance love story!
