I absolutely love Meghan March’s duets and when I found out she was releasing another one, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Meghan March has such a talent when it comes to writing sexy alpha heroes; I instantly fall in love with the heroes she brings to life. I mean seriously, a hot country music singing bad boy, I was all over that. If anyone hasn’t checked out her Real and Dirty duets before, then I strenuously suggest you do.
Boone Thrasher has everything he could ever possibly want; a successful country music career and a woman he loves who he plans to spend the rest of his life with. Unfortunately things don’t always work out as planned and when you think everything is going peachy, something happens to disrupt the smooth sailing.
Boone is planning to propose to the woman that he wants to spend the rest of his life with. Only one problem… she has run off and doesn’t show up for the planned proposal. Feeling angry and humiliated (I guess anyone would feel like that after that happens), his friend takes him to a local bar (which is a dive) to drown his sorrows at the bottom of a bottle.
Ripley Fischer is the bartender and owner of the bar and has absolutely zero time or tolerance for celebrities. To her they’re all the same, self-entitled, rude and common decency doesn’t seem to ever extend towards them. Ripley was a great heroine and I completely adored her. I have a soft spot for sassy, fiery woman who can hold their own against the best of them and who have no problem mouthing off and Ripley was no exception.
Boone and Ripley’s first encounter wasn’t a pleasant experience for either of them and that’s putting it lightly. When you put together an angry, bad boy celebrity and a feisty celebrity hater, you know sparks are going to fly. Some of the best sexual chemistry and tension I have read has all started with characters despising each other. What is it about hatred that turns people on?
While this story was HOT and SEXY with hilarious witty banter, it was also quite EMOTIONAL! I’m not going to divulge any spoilers, but it was definitely emotional in some parts, especially when it came to Ripley’s character; I really felt for her.
I really enjoyed this story and I’m not surprised that I did, because I always appreciate Meghan March’s stellar writing and the characters she creates for us. Now… as we are all aware, Real Dirty is part of a duet, so yes this one does end in a cliffy, but Meghan March always releases them close together, so we never have to wait too long. I personally cannot wait to read number 2 Real Sexy, which is due for release on May 23rd.
“I want to hate him. Everything about him. He shouldn’t make me want to climb him like a mountain to plant a flag at the top saying RIPLEY WAS HERE. No way. No how.”
