It’s been so long since I’ve read a dark book, that I forgot how much I enjoy all the dark elements, all the intrigue and mystery and the psychological aspect in a story like this. Since this was my first read by this author I didn’t know what to expect, especially with such a blurb. Well, I’m happy to say that I really enjoyed this story. It was definitely dark, raw, twisted. It wasn’t a dark romance, at least this book in the series. This is only dark..
There’s a debt. Somebody has to pay for the past. Nila Weaver is about to lose not only her past, but also her future.
Nila is a young 24 years old fashion designer. The only men in her life are her twin brother, Vaughn and her father. She doesn’t date, but not because she doesn’t want to, but because her brother and her father are too over-protective and possessive. Everything will change for Nila when she meets Jethro Hawk.
“I truly was Cinderella, only my prince threw away the glass slipper and stole me away before midnight struck. My prince was evil. My prince was the villain.“
Jethro is 29 years old. His family is rich and influent. He’s in Milan to collect his inheritance – Nila, because she is the only one who must pay for the debt and he is the only one who must collect. He can’t do with her what he wants, he is the only one who has the power.
“There was a debt to be paid. And I was the method of extraction. Plain and simple. I’m a Hawk. She’s a Weaver. That was all I needed to know.”
Nila practically is forced to go with Jethro…Where and how Nila will pay for the debt you will found out…reading the book!!
“You live in a fairytale, princess, and I’m about to destroy it.”
Debt Inheritance it was a great dark read. Like I said before, this is not a romance, but there’s some hot erotic moments between Nila and Jethro. From the very first page I was captivated with the story from the very first page and I wanted to know more about the debt.
There are plenty of twist, turns, and mystery that will capture your attention and the cliffhanger at the end it will make you want to know more, to know what will happen with Nila and Jethro. For me the cliffhanger wasn’t so bad, I don’t know exactly way,but I’m curious about how the story will progress.
I found both Nila and Jethro characters very well developed. Jethro is a complex character. An anti-hero. He’s cold, calculated, ruthless, manipulative. He’s mysterious and like Nila, I was intrigued by him.
Nila loves his father and twin brother. She’s naïve and inexperienced. In the beginning she doesn’t know what to think, she’s scared…Who is really this man,Jethro and what he wants from her…but she is forced by circumstances to be strong. As the story progresses she is determined not to let Jethro or anybody destroy her. I really liked that.
One of my problems with this story was the fact that I really didn’t understand why the debt is still carrying on after so many years. This part wasn’t so plausible for me…And why the nicknames or the exclusive motorcycle club. I don’t see what this has to do with anything. Maybe it will make sense in the next book/books in the series?!?
Overall, I liked this book and how most of the story progressed! With an intriguing storyline, some suspense and flawless writing, Debt Inheritance was a great read! Can’t wait to know more!
