When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate - and prized - parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Christian Louboutins.

Brent has never let the loss of his leg in a childhood accident affect his ability to lead a fulfilling life. He sets high goals–and then he reaches them.

And now he has his sights set on Kennedy.
**
When Kennedy looks at Brent Mason, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue-worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell.

She’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore - she’s a DC prosecutor with a long winning streak behind her. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case and she thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.

But things aren’t exactly working out that way.

Because every fiery exchange has her wondering if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. Each argument and objection only makes him want her more. In the end, Brent and Kennedy may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.

APPEALED is a sexy, humorous romance about first crushes, second chances and the final verdict of the heart.

Maria’s Review

This is a third stand alone novel in the Legal Briefs series by Emma Chase. Another male only POV. *yey*

Brent lost one of his legs in a childhood accident but with years of therapy and support he was able to become successful in almost all aspects of his life. A defense attorney by day and a confirmed bachelor by night, Brent refuses to give a go to any steady relationship.

Kennedy is Brent’s childhood friend and she hasn’t seen him in many years. Reunited when Kennedy turns up to be a prosecutor on one of Brents’s cases, they go head to head against each other in court. There are a lot of things they need to clear up about their past and they work through it in this novel.

Best part about the book was the way the main characters evolved their relationship. They start out with Kennedy pretty much hating Brent’s guts but they eventually get everything out in the open. I appreciated them talking things through. There is a lot of alternating between past and present going on in the book, showing readers their background story.
There is also a strong message about working through and overcoming traumatic events of ones life.

Worst part of the book was a pretty slow beginning. The book was funny but not “Sustained” kind of funny. The second part of the book won me over with hot sex and… feelings…

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed Sustained and Tangled by Emma Chase but be prepared for a trip down memory lane because these two main characters share a past.
